2010年代开始，欧洲的难民问题逐渐延烧到各国。冰岛的独立记者吉塞拉，为了贴近报导移居的难民，抗拒著冷漠的本性，邀请她们搬到自己家当房客。三个女人和一个小女孩，从此展开温馨又热闹的生活，但是习惯的差异渐渐造成彼此的摩擦，也让吉塞拉决定做出改变，但她的决定，也残酷地影响了所有人的命运。
